Vehicle Decals, Lettering, and Numbering

  1. The agency uses standard decals, lettering and numbering on vehicles to provide a standard look to agency vehicles. No other decals, lettering, numbering or stickers (except for registration stickers and toll tags) are authorized on vehicles.
  2. The Surplus Property Coordinator in Hudson coordinates the procurement and placement of the authorized decals, lettering and numbers on new vehicles purchased by the agency.
  3. Decal specifications used by the agency are as follows:
    1. Round logo (same as agency patch) – using artwork and color codes provided by the agency Communications office.
      1. Exception – Law Enforcement Vehicles: Law Enforcement round logo (same as agency LE patch) – using artwork and color codes provided by the agency Communications office.
    2. Standard size for most vehicles – 14″
      • Exceptions:
        1. For tractor/trailer rigs – 18″
        2. For small/compact cars – 12″ (only if necessary to fit door)
        3. For dozers – 8″
        4. For cargo trailers – 24″
    3. Center (left to right and top to bottom) on both front doors, adjusting as needed for door molding, contours, door handles, name plate (e.g. F150), etc.
    4. For dozers only – place decal on each side, towards rear of dozer
    5. For cargo trailers only:
      1. Front
        1. Patch centered, 4″ down from roof seam to top of patch decal.
        2. Web address “tfsweb.tamu.edu” will be centered on front only, 2″ black high – non-reflective (top of letters 3″ from bottom of patch decal)
      2. Sides
        1. The words “TEXAS A&M FOREST SERVICE”, black color (non-reflective), centered on side (adjusting for door, windows, etc.), 4″ down from roof seam
        2. Patch centered on wording, 4″ between bottom of wording to top of patch decal.
      3. Exception – fire prevention
        1. Fire prevention campaign messaging may be placed on the rear of cargo trailers or wrapped entirely
      4. Exception – Law Enforcement
        1. Law Enforcement campaign messaging may be placed on the rear of cargo trailers or wrapped entirely
      5. For Command Trailers only:
        1. Use of the Lone Star State IMT patch logo is authorized but must include the agency patch decal on the same side.
        2. TEAM”, black color, will be used with the IMT patch logo.
        3. Decals should be sized appropriately to the respective size of the command trailer and adjusting for windows, doors, slide outs, antennas, etc.
    6. Fonts – Helvetica LT Standard, Bold
    7. Reflective material
  4. Lettering and Numbering specifications used by the agency are as follows:
    1. Vehicles and heavy equipment with fire responsibilities.
      1. The word “FIRE”
        1. Red color, all caps
        2. 4” height on each front door (below Decal when possible; move to left or right if needed to accommodate decal)
        3. 3” height on rear of vehicle (upper left corner of tailgate on pickups and below the glass on SUV’s, driver’s side)
      2. Unit number
        1. Black color
        2. 3” height on rear of vehicle (upper right corner of tailgate on pickups and below the glass on SUV’s, passenger side)
          • 3″ height on both sides of vehicle front fenders (centered over front tire and just below the hood; adjust to accommodate seams, molding or name plate, etc.)
          • 3″ height on driver side front bumper; white color
          • Place unit # on each side, towards front of dozer
            1. For large cab dozers, place unit # on cab frame. Numbers will be 4″ wide and 5″ tall; stretching 23″ top to bottom
          • Place unit # on front right cargo trailer, midway or above rock panel
          • Roof identification (for dozers, transports, engines, and fireline supervisor pickups)
            1. Standard – 18”- 36″ height in black on the roof for white roofs
            2. Exception – 18”- 36″ height in white on the roof for black roofs
            3. Exception – 12”- 36″ height in black on the roof for small dozers
      3. Law Enforcement Vehicles
        1. The words “STATE LAW ENFORCEMENT”
        2. Black color
        3. 2” height on rear of vehicle (centered and flush with the bottom)
    2. All other Vehicles
      1. Unit number
        1. Black color
        2. 3” height on rear of vehicle (upper right corner of tailgate on pickups and below the glass on SUV’s, passenger side)
      2. Fonts – Helvetica LT Standard, Bold
      3. Reflective material
